VCR Churches in a Blu-Ray World

I spoke at a conference last week and I was asked a really interesting question by a Pastor who attended my session.

He asked, “Bob, if you could go back to when you planted your church, what would you do differently?”

While time travel is only possible on Star Trek, I immediately responded.

I said, “In the 1st 18 months at Calvary we didn’t reach one person who was far from God. We only reached Christians. In the last 18 months, we’ve seen over 1,000 first time decisions and more than 2,500 rededicate their lives to Christ in that time.”

I continued…

“Everyone wants to know ‘What happened?’ Truth be told, here’s what happened: we became obsessed with reaching lost people.

I became obsessed with learning the newest strategies we could employ to reach our community.

I was frustrated with doing what every other church did that got poor results.

I felt like we were selling VHS tapes in a world that had moved on to Blu-Ray.”

Did you catch it?

You can have the greatest message in the world, but if your strategy is to put it on VHS tapes, it isn’t going to work.

That’s why Outreach Ninja exists.

How Star Trek can Increase your Easter Attendance

I grew up watching Star Trek: The Original Series.

(Yes, I just dated myself.)

But here’s what I loved about Star Trek and Captain Kirk in particular:

He was boldly going where no man had gone before.

They were going to new places and doing things no one had ever done before.

Here’s why I believe Captain Kirk can help you reach more people this Easter.

If you want to reach more people than ever this Easter, you’re going to have to do things you’ve never done before.

That’s what this month’s Outreach Ninja coaching is all about.

We’re covering Strategic Easter issues that can raise your Easter attendance by up to 50%.

In fact, check out what Outreach Ninja member Andrew Winburn said to me this week:

“Bob, I’ve been learning from you for over a year now. It took me about 3 months to begin to grasp all of the concepts…after that, we’ve been seeing God do incredible things through quick and steady growth. I want to fill you in on how God is using you at Generation Church in Columbia, SC…

– Over the last 9 months, we’ve baptized more people than the previous history of our church.
– We’ve had a few ‘shots in the arm’ by implementing Mini-Easters where we instantly doubled and even tripled in size. People have been saved at these events.
– This past Sunday we ran out of chairs for the first time (thankfully we had some in storage)
– Our small groups have tripled!

I want you to know the impact the ninja networks have. I wish more pastors would invest in these networks.”

I want you to experience the same results as Andrew.

He started doing things he had never done before and now he’s leading a thriving ministry reaching new people every week.

This can happen in your church as well.

That’s why we let you test drive Outreach Ninja for only $49 for the 1st month (A $97 value)!

Plus, when you join Outreach Ninja you get over $700 in bonus resources that are more delicious than those chocolate Cadbury Eggs.

3 Words that can add 25% to your Easter Attendance

There’s 3 words that can add 25% to your Easter attendance.

How do I know?

Because it’s happened at Calvary (the church I Pastor).

It’s also happened in countless churches that I’ve coached over the years.

What are the 3 words?

Easter.Egg.Hunt

Doing an Easter Egg Hunt after each of your Easter services can drastically increase your Easter attendance and the number of unchurched families you reach.

Why?

Because people want to go to an Easter egg hunt on Easter.

Many (this includes unchurched families) want to attend church on Easter.

Having an Easter Egg Hunt after your services allows them to kill 2 bunnies with one egg.

If you do an Easter Egg Hunt on any other day, people will the Egg Hunt or church.

Don’t split your efforts.

Do it all on Easter Sunday!

This month’s Outreach Ninja coaching focuses on strategic Easter issues like an Easter Egg Hunt that will radically increase your Easter attendance.

But here’s the deal – we are laying every step out for you, so it’s literally plug and play.

Plus, we’re giving you the Easter direct mail pieces and door hangers so you can promote your Easter services and your Easter Egg Hunt.

The 7 Deadly Sins of Easter Outreach

Easter is around the corner (46 days away to be exact)!

This is the #1 day of the year to reach people in your community.

I know lots of churches are going to going to be trying different outreach means to see their community attend of their Easter services.

So I thought I’d share the 7 deadly sins of Easter outreach…

1. Pride – Don’t simply expect people to show up to your church on Easter. Humble yourself enough to use every means available to invite them.

2. Lust – Don’t simply desire to make people just another “butt in the seat”. These are people with hurts, hangups, problems, and addictions. Love them by sharing an Easter message that connects with them.

3. Envy – Don’t be upset because another church is doing something you can’t do. Focus on what you can do with excellence. Celebrate that we’re all on the same team and all seeking to reach people for the kingdom!

4. Greed – When a church isn’t honest about who they can and cannot reach, they get greedy. They think they’re going to reach everyone and all they end up doing is wasting money.

5. Gluttony – Focus on who you’re most equipped to reach and those most likely to stay. If you do, your church will be healthier and

6. Anger – Don’t be mad at people for being sinners. They don’t know any better. Instead, share a message of hope for sinners. That’s the beauty of the Gospel.

7. Sloth – Don’t be lazy! The time to get up and start planning to reach your community is now! Don’t delay one more second!

3 Easter Lessons from…Madonna

I’m still in mourning over the Patriots loss in the Superbowl.

What can I say? I’m from Boston :)

However, I did learn something about outreach from Madonna of all people during the halftime show.

I believe this can help you as you prepare for your “Superbowl ” of Sundays, Easter!

1. Don’t miss the biggest opportunity of the year

Madonna was performing for one third of the population of America and she brought the best performance of her career.

Easter is the biggest Sunday of the year. make sure that it’s the best music, preaching and overall service you have this year.

2. Don’t miss the best promotion of the year

Madonna did the halftime show because it was a promotion for her new album.

Easter is the time when the most people in your community are open to the Gospel and attending church.

So use this promotional window to let people know about your church.

Once they attend, you’ll give them a clear Gospel presentation and they’ll respond by God’s grace.

3. Do everything with excellence

Say what you want about Madonna’s music, she did one of the best halftime shows since U2 in 2001.

So create great direct mail pieces.

Put together quality Facebook ads.

Pick the right key words on Google.

Mobilize your congregation.

The result will be the best Easter services and the most lives changes that we have ever seen.

That’s what Outreach Ninja is all about.

Helping you reach maximum people in your community so you can seize this important moment in your church’s history.

You can learn more over at www.outreachninja.com/testdrive and experience the 1st month of Outreach Ninja for only $49 (that’s 50% off the normal monthly investment)!
