Many churches are going to experience an attendance bump on Easter.
But what about the week after Easter or the week after that?
Many churches will go back to being stuck.
There’s several things that churches need to do to keep growing after Easter.
Here’s 5 that you can start doing today…
1. Keep growing yourself - growing churches are led by growing leaders. Period.
2. Improve your systems - your current systems are giving you your current results. Improve your systems and you’ll improve your results.
3. Develop new leaders - You can’t build a 20-story house on a 10-story foundation. In the same way, you can’t keep adding to your congregation without adding leaders.
4. Do Strategic Outreach - Leverage your calendar and create “Mini-Easters” all throughout the year.
5. Have Great Follow up - If you only improved your follow up, your church would grow. Too many churches let people slip out the back door because they have poor follow up.
That’s why we’re focusing our April Outreach Ninja coaching session on follow up that grows your church
You’re going to see a lot of first time decisions on Easter.
Be prepared to help them take significant spiritual steps.

5 Ways to Keep Growing AFTER Easter
If George Costanza were a Pastor, he would…
Remember the classic Seinfeld episode where George decides to do the opposite of his natural instincts and everything works out well for him?
That’s how church leaders should be sometimes.
They should do the opposite of what the average church is going.
The average church is…
– Not growing
– Now seeing people saved
– Not baptizing new believers
In short, the average church is, stuck!
Here’s the leadership lesson: if your church is stuck, you have to do different things than what got you stuck in the first place.
My church was stuck for over a year early in our history.
But we learned why we were stuck. Then we took action and that next year our church doubled.
Not only did I discover why we were stuck, I learned the 7 factors that get churches unstuck.
This worked in our church, and I’ve taught this strategy to hundreds of churches that I’ve coached and they have seen amazing results as well.
I recorded all of these learnings in a new resource called, “Getting Unstuck: Secrets to Avoiding Growth Barriers and Becoming an Unstoppable Church”.
It’s a 5-CD (or downloadable) resource that contains over 3 and a 1/2 hours of practical, nuts and bolts teaching on the skills and strategies it takes to get unstuck and start growing again.
In fact, if you pick up Getting Unstuck this week, I will send you my best selling, “Pillars of a Healthy Church” resource for FREE (A $129.95 value!)
Getting stuck is part of every church’s story… don’t let it become the overarching part of your story.

P.S. The “Pillars of a Healthy Church” bonus is only available this week, so don’t delay!
Your 2012 Easter Checklist
Easter is 17 days away.
Now is the time to make the final preparations so you’re ready for the biggest Sunday of the year.
So here’s 10 areas you need to have ready if you want to reach a lot of people this Easter:
1. Direct Mail
What’s you direct mail plan? (Please tell me it’s not just blasting a few zip codes. Be more strategic and you’ll see much better results)
2. Mobilizing your congregation
Have you equipped your church with the tools they need to invite friends? Encourage them that this is the easiest Sunday of the year to invite friends and family.
3. New Believers
Are you prepared for God to bless your church with new believers? That means having a follow up process and materials for those who make the most important decision they’ll ever make!
4. Servants
Have you challenged those who don’t serve to get involved in some way for Easter? It’s a great first step for some.
5. Newcomers
Do you have a follow up system that helps first time guests make your church their home? This is one of the main reasons churches go back to their pre-Easter attendance after Easter.
6. Google
Have you invested in some adwords that will direct people to your website? There will be people in your community looking for a place to attend. Make it easy for them to find your church.
7. Website
Have you make some website improvements to better serve those who are new to your site during the Easter season? Put your Easter services front and center on your home page.
8. Prayer
Is your congregation praying specifically for their friends, family, community and Pastor leading up to Easter?
9. Messages
Have you nailed down your Easter series and your specific Easter message? Don’t wait until Good Friday to start preparing the most important sermon you’ll give all year!
10. You
Are you ready? Have you been seeking God? Do you have a word from Him that you need to share?
Go through this list and see the areas you need to work on and give those extra effort this week. Time is of the essence!

What Pastors can Learn from Plumbers
I’ve learned a ton about plumbing in the last 2 weeks.
I have been without a kitchen because of a leaky pipe.
Here’s what I’ve learned about the plumbing arts…
If you have a leaky pipe, you have to pump twice the water through the pipe to get 1/2 the amount H2O when you open your faucet.
Here’s how this relates to church leadership and outreach…
Your church can spend lots of money on outreach and fill your seats on Easter.
However, if you don’t have a good follow up system and newcomers and new believers, they will slip out the back door like water through a leaky pipe.
So what’s the solution?
Fix.the.pipe.
You can see more growth in your church by simply fixing your follow up strategy.
At Calvary, we’ve seen over 1,000 new believers in the last 18 months.
In fact, we saw 75 people respond to an invitation this past Sunday!
That’s why we’re focusing our April Outreach Ninja coaching session on follow up.
You’re going to see a lot of first time decisions on Easter.
Be prepared to help them take significant spiritual steps.
It’s time to fix the leaky pipe!

3 Important Facts about those who will attend your Easter Services
Churches who are serious about outreach see huge crowds on Easter.
But while we focus on strategies for getting crowds in the doors (which I’m all for), there’s another element that I want to focus on.
I want to talk about what’s happening internally to those who will attend your services on Easter.
There are 3 things happening in them when they sit in your seats…
#1 – They Know They Need God in Their Lives – Long before you give your invitation sharing about people’s need for God, He has already been at work in people’s lives.
Our goal is to simply cooperate with what God is already doing and highlight that need for God though our worship, teaching and creative elements.
#2 – They Want to Experience God – People don’t want a hollow religious experience. They want to feel God at work in their lives. The entire reason they came to church was to connect with God in some way.
Our job is simply to facilitate people encountering God through each element of our services.
#3 – They Have No Idea How to Draw Close to God – Leadership is the purest sense is leading people to Jesus.
Our highest goal is to help another person connect with the God who created them, loves them, and desires to be in relationship with them.
That’s what I’m going to be sharing in this FREE 35-minute online event called, “Doubling your Easter Decisions”.
Easter is the #1 day of the year to see people make first time decisions.
That means, your Easter service and invitation are too important to just “wing it” and hope the message connects.
I’ll be teaching this practical, nuts and bolts session twice… today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday, March 13th and 14th) at 3PM EST.
This webinar will give you 5 simple strategies for getting unchurched people into your services and see them make a decision for Christ!
