My 2 Christmas Predictions for your Church

Everyone loves predictions. Sports.Political.Weather.

And while I am neither a prophet nor Miss Cleo (10 points if you remember her), I do know something that will certainly be true for you and your church this Christmas season.

So here are my 2 Christmas predictions for churches…

Prediction #1: Churches who invest in outreach will continue to reach people

Outreach is never an expense; it’s always an investment. Churches who see direct mail, Facebook ads, Google adwords, placement ads or any other form of marketing as an expense will usually go cheap and reach very few people.

Prediction #2: Pastors who learn new skills will grow their churches and reach their communities

After coaching more than 200 Pastors, I can tell you that the Pastors who invest in their own education grow larger churches and reach more people.

Unfortunately, many leaders will keep “plugging along” and take the road to nowhere and wonder why their church doesn’t grow and why they never reach unchurched people.

In contrast, check out the email I got this week from Outreach Ninja member Andrew Winburn:

“We are strictly using what you are teaching and we doubled our size on our second ‘mini-Easter’ on 10/30. This was after a triple size growth after our first one in July. It has been fun and challenging to do followup and baptism from these outreach services.”

I’m not saying you’ll get the same results Andrew got, but Outreach Ninja churches grow.

In our December coaching session, I’m going to show you how we’ve seen over 1,000 unchurched people make first time decisions in the last 18 months.

So invest in yourself and your church and test drive Outreach Ninja for the next 30 days for 50% off the normal monthly investment.

Plus, you receive $695.71 in bonus resources when you join.

The Tale of 2 Gospel Presentations

I recently ran across an outline for a message out of the book of Romans that I preached in the first year of our church.

I looked over the notes and thought they were still pretty good even though they were 10 years old.

Here’s the odd part: I was teaching Romans again when I found them.

I had taught the same area of scripture just a few weeks before, so I thought it would be fun to compare the notes.

10 years later I thought my 2011 message was more polished, but all in all, the messages were very much the same.

Except for one thing.

A really big thing.

The 2011 message saw more than 20 first time decisions as well as several recommitments and the 2001 message had Zero.Zip. Zilch. by way of decisions.

What was the difference?

Was one more Gospel centered? Nope.

Did the second message have a clearer Gospel presentation? No, sorry, but thanks for playing.

After wracking my brain to find out the difference, here’s what it was: in 2011 there were dozens of unchurched people in the crowd and in 2001 there were none.

Here’s the deal: this can be the biggest Christmas in the history of your church, but you’re going to have to get lots of unchurched people to your church to hear the Gospel.

A Preaching Tip for your Christmas Messages

Our Christmas outreach services are about a month away.

Most of us are writing messages for the holidays that we hope will reach people far from God.

Here’s my preaching tip for your Christmas Eve services: have your whole message build up to the invitation.

Make sure every word is leading your hearers to the point where you want to them to respond to the Gospel invitation you’re going to give.

In fact, you may want to start writing your message by writing the invitation first.

That way you know exactly what you’re building up to.

But here’s the reality: if people are going to respond to the Gospel, we need to get unchurched people in the seats.

That’s why we’re offering our “Double your Decisions this Christmas” webinar tomorrow and Wednesday (November 22 and 23). There’s 4 convenient timesto choose from for you and your team to participate.

There’s still time to prepare and make this the biggest Christmas services in your church’s history.

Sunday Stuff…

- Fantastic day at Calvary!

- It was a full day of ministry.

- Preached the Sunday services. Baby dedication. Baptisms. Officiated a wedding.

- Then I wrestled with my kid for 2 hours. That’s what wiped me out the most :)

- Finished preaching through Nehemiah today.

- If I haven’t mentioned it recently, I love teaching expositionally!

- That’s 31 books of the Bible taught. I love it!

- There’s no better way to disciple a congregation.

- Love seeing people make the decision to be baptized.

- We let everyone know that our church committed to give $500,000 towards the purchase of a permanent facility.

- Here’s what blows me away about this: God did all this with 4 meetings and 1 sermon. Awesome!

- Here’s the amazing part: there’s no building/ property. This money is being given so we’re ready when the opportunity arises.

- It shows the faith of our church and the willingness to sacrifice. I’m honored to be the Pastor at Calvary.

- Pastors: because of the overwhelming demand, we’re offering the “Double your Decisions this Christmas” on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. You can register here. There’s 4 available times.

- My wife is due in less than 40 days. Crazy times :)

- I am to blessed to hear the stories of guys who are doubling their churches because of what they are learning through Outreach Ninja. It fires me up! You can test drive Outreach Ninja for only $49 for the next 30 days. Get more info here

How to get mucho Evangelistic results… even if you aren’t an evangelist

Let me just come out and say it: I’m not an evangelist.

We see lots of people come to Jesus every week at Calvary, but my spiritual gift isn’t evangelism.

I wish it were.

But it isn’t.

In fact, I’m much more comfortable talking about the nuances of Greek and Hebrew than anything else.

But even though I’m not an evangelist in my gifting, I’m called to do the work of an evangelist.

By the way, so you are.

So how can those of us who aren’t evangelists see people come to Christ every week in our services?

The answer isn’t very hard. Implementing is what takes practice.

It’s evangelistic preaching.

I’m not talking about Billy Graham style evangelism where your worship leader has to learn to play “Just as I am”.

Instead, evangelistic preaching can be learned just like Bible preaching can be learned.

There are 6 factors to evangelistic preaching that increases decisions in your church and at the same time, creates an evangelistic culture in your church.

That’s what this month of Outreach Ninja is all about. We’re going to cover evangelistic preaching from A-Z.

My goal is to help you preach the best Christmas message you’ve ever preached and see more decisions than you ever have in your church.

That’s why you can test drive 100% of Outreach Ninja for 50% of the monthly investment for the first month.
